Head Coach - Field Hockey
SUMMARY
The Head Field Hockey Coach will serve as the primary coach and administrator for the field hockey program. The Head Field Hockey Coach will be responsible for instructing students in areas of the sports fundamentals, sportsmanship, leadership, film, scouting, recruiting, academic and conduct monitoring, and strength and conditioning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include the following:
- Coaching responsibilities to include; instructing students on sport fundamentals, setting clear team goals and expectations, and providing feedback to students.
- Demonstrate teaching and coaching competencies with regards to skill instruction and tactical strategies.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive recruiting plan to include recruiting qualified collegiate student-athletes.
- Design and execute a competitive collegiate schedule.
- Monitor and provide input and instruction regarding the strength and conditioning program for the team.
- Oversee the management of team operating and fundraising budgets.
- Organize team travel arrangements including meals, hotels, and transportation.
- Participate in department wide and sport specific fundraising efforts.
- Provide leadership in the personal, academic, and athletic development of student-athletes.
- Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure they are meeting academic course requirements and providing guidance and instruction to students to ensure success.
- Monitor the conduct of the student-athletes with NCAA, NAC, department and team expectations.
- Oversee assistant coaching staff.
- Work with the Director of Athletic Facilities in monitoring all athletic facilities used by the program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics (a secondary duty within the department will be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Three years successful coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level required, head coaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: A working knowledge of coaching both field players and goalkeepers. The ability to work with Front Rush recruiting software, and the ability to create film sessions with both individuals and the full team. Coaching licenses, certifications and badges preferred.
The successful candidate must possess the skills to function well in a variety of roles that interact positively with the administration, faculty, coaching staff, student-athletes and other on, and off, campus constituents.
The successful candidate will show the ability to work successfully in a highly competitive, NCAA Division III, collegiate environment.
