Assistant Field Hockey Coach
Connecticut College is conducting a regional search for a Coaching Intern for Women's Field Hockey. Connecticut College is a highly selective private liberal arts college in New London, Connecticut, and a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Compensation in addition to pay includes a limited College meal plan, and the opportunity to enroll in up to three courses at Connecticut College per semester at no charge if accepted as a Special Day Student. This position will end May 2023 and has the possibility for renewal.
The coaching intern will assist the head coach of women’s field hockey with coaching/teaching during on-field practice sessions, off-field chalkboard and video analysis, in-game coaching and pre-game preparation, post-game debrief, student-athlete counseling sessions (academic progress, social parameters, role on team, skill/strategy development), recruitment, and operations management. In addition the coaching intern will assist the head coach in executing recruitment plans including hosting on-campus visits, development of prospect data base, frequent communication with prospects; assist in daily program operations including: communication with the team on practice times, coordination and preparation for away games. On occasion, may drive athletes to events or games. The coaching intern will adhere to all NCAA, NESCAC, and College regulations and represent the institution with the highest professionalism.
Bachelor’s degree required, with two years of field hockey coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level and/or three years of collegiate field hockey playing experience. Must possess a valid drivers license. Knowledge of NCAA and NESCAC rules. Demonstrated leadership experience and effective communication skills. Highest ethical standards regarding sportsmanship, integrity, and professionalism.
